"Boy, probably spent a thousand hours trying to get ******* API to work right. And now two hours to have something running with IQFeed. Hmmm, guess I was pretty stupid to fight rather than switch all this time. And have gotten more customer service from you guys already than total from them… in five years." - Comment from Jim
"I would just like to say that IQFeed version 4 is running very well and I am very happy with its performance. I would also like to extend a big thanks for the fast and efficient help that I always receive. My questions and concerns are always addressed promptly. Way to go!" - Comment from Josh in CO.

"This beats the pants off CQG, I am definitely switching to the ProphetX 3.0!" - Comment from Stephen
"Thanks for the great product and support. During this week of high volume trading, my QuoteTracker + IQ Feed setup never missed a beat. Also, thanks for your swiftness in responding to data issues. I was on ******* for a few years before I made the switch over early this year, and wish I had done it a long time ago." - Comment from Ken
"Everything is working great ! Very impressive client. The news refreshes better and is more pertinent than the ******* feed I paid $ 100/month for. I Also like the charts a lot." - Comment from Leon
"Previously I was using *******. IQFeed is WAY more economical, and for my charting needs is just as good, if not better." - Comment from Public Forum Post
"You have an excellent feed. Very few spikes for Spot Forex." - Comment from Public Forum Post
"I cannot believe what a difference it makes trading with ProphetX!" - Comment from Bruce in Los Angeles
"Just a quick one to say I'm very impressed so far :) The documentation for developers is excellent and I've quickly managed to get an app written to do historical downloads. The system is very robust and pretty quick considering the extent of data that's available. The support guys have been very helpful too, in combination with the forums it's been plain sailing so far!" - Comment from Adam

i've reported that to the tech support in february and in march about this problem but the promised fix did not come... so i've waited for the next release of the client but even in june is no fix for this big problem...

my mails in march and april got ignored, so i dont know where else to ask than in this forums..

if there is still no solution, i probably cancel my iqfeed subscription...

the problem:

when you - for whatever reaseon - got disconnected from the internet and do a reconnect, the iqconnect.exe reconnects fine to the "price data feed" but NOT to the "level2 data feed".
as i do various level2 analysis, this sucks big time.

what i then need to do is to close the feed completely and restart it. this might be an option for "spare time traders" but it is not for me. given the fact that there is no histroical level2 date available, my analysis will be incomplete - forever...

you can easily reproduce this issue with a simple "pull out the plug" and plug it back in...

i am waiting for a fix and i hope you take this seriously.

thank you,
Andreas

Andreas, you are correct, the L2 feed does not automatically reconnect to the servers upon reconnection when the disconnection was unexpected (not initiated by the user). At this time, the workaround for this issue would be to disconnect and reconnect the feed manually using the notification area icon's right-click menu (or just restart the feed as you have been doing). Unfortunately this bug wasn't identified until after our final build for this latest bugfix was complete so it will be fixed in the next release of IQFeed.

when can i expect this new version?

i am not sure if you can fully understand the importance of this!

a working reconnection is crucial and its been more than 6 months since i've reported this to your support and already more than 2 months i've reported it in here.

is there any beta version which is working?

Unfortunately, there is no timeframe set yet on the next version of IQFeed.

Steve,

thats a shame... there might be people who need a working reconnection. i am one of those and i can't restart iqconnect while i do my other tick based calculations without losing even more information.

if this is your policy of dealing with annoying bugs.. ok then... other service providers probably fix those serious bugs in a reasonable time and might be better for my business...

as a side note, please tell your clients that you would need more than 6 month to come up with a fix for their reported bugs... this will help them to decide properly!

thanks,
Andreas

Andreas, I understand your situation and apologize for the delay in fixing this issue.

I have sent you a PM with a possible work around to allow you to reconnect the L2 without interrupting your L1 connection. Let me know if it helps.

thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!

while the work around is working.. its still sort of awkward.. :) and sometimes iqconnect just "hangs" and not answers the telnet requests..

i will update my installation as soon as the markets are closed.

thank you very much!
