"I ran your IQFeed DDE vs. my broker vs. a level II window for some slow-moving options. I would see the level II quote change, then your feed update instantaneously. My broker's DDE, however, would take as much as 30 seconds to update. I am not chasing milliseconds, but half a minute is unacceptable." - Comment from Rob

The field "Last", or "Last Trade Price" is always equal to the bid with forex data since forex is a quote only (bid/ask) feed (doesn't report actual trades). IQFeed uses the Last field for historical data. Thus, the historical data is derived from the Bid field.

Jay,

Thanks for the clarification. Is there any way to capture actual forex trades?

My understanding of this has always been that nothing of that nature is disseminated. The banks report their exchange rates and that sets the bid and ask values, but there is no single place that processes or publishes the individual transactions.

Hi Tim,

That makes sense, in general, but I wonder if there are any brokers who provide a feed of actual trades.

I do not believe so, but if you find something different than that, let me know, and I can escalate the request to add it in the future.
