"Just a quick one to say I'm very impressed so far :) The documentation for developers is excellent and I've quickly managed to get an app written to do historical downloads. The system is very robust and pretty quick considering the extent of data that's available. The support guys have been very helpful too, in combination with the forums it's been plain sailing so far!" - Comment from Adam

I seem to have misunderstood what a Synthentic contract is. Below are three soybean Synthentic but they do not seem to return much data and I am not sure what the data is. Can you explain what a Synthentic item is?

@QS2#
SOYBEANS CSO NOV-NOV SYNTHETIC NOVEMBER 2015

@QS2X15
SOYBEANS CSO NOV-NOV SYNTHETIC NOVEMBER 2015

@SQ2X15
SOYBEANS CSO CONSECUTIVE SYNTHETIC NOVEMBER 2015

I am trying to find the symbol that will call a continuous futures contract that rolls to the same contract month. For example a symbol for November Soybean that rolls from Nov12-Nov13-Nov14-Nov15 always rolling into the next November contract. Is the symbol below the correct symbol for this?

@SX#

Hello,

I am not a trader, so hopefully, this blurb I found can explain what synthetics are better than I could.

DEFINITION OF 'SYNTHETIC FUTURES CONTRACT'
A position created by combining call and put options for the purpose of mimicking the payout schedule and characteristics of a futures contract.

A synthetic long futures contract is created by combining long calls and short puts. A synthetic short futures contract is created by combining short calls and long puts. In order for both combinations to be identical to a futures position, the options must have the same expiry dates and strike prices.

As to the continuous contract, we have front month continuous contracts, but we do not have support, within IQFeed, for specific month's. The symbol you list would be invalid within our system.

Hope this helps, but if not let me know and we will try to get more detail.

Tim
