I have been a user for couple years now and I hope that the question that has been lingering can be defined. Is there anywhere that explains how things are calculated in market stats. I use NYSE net volume daily but I am seeing some thing in accordance to NYSE tick that are interesting but without knowing how they are derived I can not make it of further use signal wise.

Basically I beleive it is a the difference in volume to between the upticking and downticking stocsk. While I think this I hope that i can get a further explanation of how it is calculated

First, thanks for your continued business!

second, you might take a look at the "Notifies" section of our symbol guide page (towards the bottom of the page). There is an "Indexes and Indicators Definitions" page that has a decent overview of many of the common stats we calculate.

from that document:
The NYSE tick is the number of stocks whose current price is higher than the previous trade (uptick) minus the number whose current price is lower than he previous trade (downtick).
