Sometimes I'll set a watch on a particular option symbol eg: FIQ QD

I'll read the lines that I get back from IQFeed and I only see 'T' messages ex: 'T,20080216 17:47:00'

I am trying to get a 'P' message so that I can get Open Interest. But all I get are these 'T' messages, even when I send a force request to IQFeed ex: 'fFIQ QD'

Do you know what may be happening here?

shortorlong, The 'T' messages you are receiving are timestamp messages and are sent every minute. The force command does not work unless you are already watching a symbol (it is not designed to be used as a snapshot service). When you issue a watch request for a symbol, you should recieve a Fundamental message ("F") and a Summary message ("P") immediately. This will be followed by Quote/Update messages ("Q") everytime a field in the Update message for that symbol updates.

This is just a guess, but I think you are probably not sending the watch commands to IQFeed properly. If you want to email me at developer support with a code snippit from where you make your requests, I can help more.
