Msg. 1 of 3
Hello,
I'm currently tracking about 700 symbols and a couple of times a day IQConnect either crashes forcing me to start my application or it stops receiving data (the IQConnect status window shows incrementing seconds since last update) at which point I have to force the application to kill IQConnect and reestablish the connection (without shutting down my app). My application receives the ticks very efficiently in real time from the IQConnect socket so the IQConnect app is never pushing the CPU.
Is there anything that can be done as far as sending a log file from IQConnect so you can help me with this?
I'm using Windows 7 with an I7 processor and C# connecting via sockets, using 4.7.0.9
Thanks in advance JLP

my apologies for not responding sooner. I'm not entirely certain what might be going on currently. There is some logging you can turn on in IQConnect (take a look at the "IQConnect Logging" documentation page). As a warning, if you turn on the Data elements of the logging, your log will get VERY large VERY fast since it will output all of the data that is being sent to your app and will likely affect the performance of the feed even further.
It sounds like you are experiencing 2 different issues. First, you mention IQConnect crashing. Can you give me any more information? Does it just happen randomly? Is your app issuing any requests at the time it crashes? Can you email me (to developer support) a list of symbols you are watching? Turning on logging may help us track down this issue. Also, sometimes when IQConnect crashes, there will be a crash log written out to your mydocs directory (same directory as the default log file), if that exists, please email it to developer support.
As far as the other issue (IQConnect remains running but not receiving any data from the server). I have seen this issue before but haven't ever been able to track down the issue 100% since I have never been able to duplicate this internally (even when testing from an external source). The best guess I can offer at this point based on past troubleshooting of similar issues is that your network is getting saturated somewhere along the line and causing the transmissions from our servers to your machine to fail. In most cases of this happening, the problem either went away without any percieved changes or went away after the user upgraded thier network connection. Unfortunaly, due to the nature of this issue, I don't believe that the logging built into IQConnect is going to help much with this issue. To procede on this issue, can you tell me what kind (and speed) of internet connection you have? Are you running on a local network? What sort of other equipment is on the network (other PCs, switches, routers, firewalls, etc)? What requests are you making to the feed? If you can supply me with a copy of your app to run internally, I can run at the same time to see if we can duplicate the issue. Alternatively, if that isn't possible (for example, your app connects to an internal database), if you send me the symbol list (as requested above), I can setup a machine internally to watch those same symbols that we can use as comparison. If you would prefer to not post this information on this public forum, please email me at developer support.
